to describe god as transcendent means that god is seen to be beyond and outside the material world, this means that God is not limited by the world in terms of time, space and what god can do. God is infinite in that he is not subject to any of the limitations of humanity or of creation in general. He is far greater than everything he has made, far greater than anything that exists.

  • we all have areas of our lives that need to be purged of sin and selfishness — need to undergo purification= purgatory— enter heaven after purification
