Content Of The Theodicy Flashcards
What was Gods role in creation and how does this link to the process theodicy
- to start off the evolutionary process, this has eventually lead to the development of humans
- Humans are not controlled by God and they’re able to ignore him
Scholar David Griffin on God controlling creatures
- God does not refrain from controlling the creatures simply because it is better for God to use persuasion, but because it is necessarily the case that God cannot completely control the creatures
God is partly distinct and partly immersed in the world, just as we as human are
- as a result..
any suffering in creation, which is constantly changing is also experienced by God and creation itself is seen as co-operation between God and all other beings
when evil occurs God who is part of the universe..
Suffers in the same way other things/ beings suffer
The theodicy claims that God is not?
omnipotent, therefore he cannot stop evil as he is unable to change the natural process
however how can God hold some responsibility for evil and suffering due to the evolutionary process
because he started it off knowing (as he is omniscient) that he would not be able to control it
