What is the acceptable error in power setting?
+/- 3% or 4-6% when simulating feathered conditions.
How often do you perform an operations check?
Every 20-25 minutes after the initial operations check on the departure climb.
Takeoff Procedures
- COMMS - Switch Radio to Tower
2.CLEARANCE - Call Tower - CLEAR - Visually clear final
TAXI - to Takeoff Position
CHECKLIST - Lineup Checklist - TORQUE ~30% - Engine check, REPORT AND CONFIRM
- CONTROLS
ELEVATOR - Neutral to slight aft
AILERON - Into wind as required, slight right to compensate for torque at MAX power
REFERENCE - Select Horizon reference point
TOES OFF BRAKES - ROTATE - 85 KIAS + 1/2 Gust factor
- CHECK - Two positive rates of climb; Airspeed below 150K KIAS - Raise gear; Airspeed above 110 KIAS - Raise Flaps.
REPORT - Gear up, Flaps up at _ knots. - ATTITUDE - Set to climb, trim
Straight-and-level Flight Procedures
- BALANCE - Maintain balanced flight, trim.
- PITCH - Bisect windscreen with horizon, CROSSCHECK - Altimeter, VSI. TRIM.
- ROLL - Wingtips equidistant to horizon. CROSSCHECK - Heading. TRIM.
- SCAN
- CORRECT ALTITUDE - Stop error by adjusting nose attitude. Coordinated power and stick pressure to return to desired altitude. TRIM.
- CORRECT HEADING - Level wings, turn back heading, bank no greater than degrees off heading. Trim.
Correction: Off Airspeed/On Altitude
POWER
ATTITUDE
TRIM
Correction: Off Airspeed/Off Altitude
ATTITUDE - Reset level flight attitude
TRADE - Excess altitude or airspeed to return to desired attitude and airspeed
TRIM
Correction: On Airspeed/Off Altitude
POWER - Adjust
NOSE - Allow nose to follow
Once on Altitude:
POWER - Return to cruise
RESET - Flight attitude to level
RE-TRIM
Cruise-to-Climb Transition
POWER - smoothly advance to MAX ATTITUDE - Nose to 12-15 degrees TRIM CLEAR AIRSPEED - 180 KIAS ATTITUDE - Nose to 8 degrees RE-TRIM
Climb-to-Cruise Transition
200 Feet prior to altitude:
ATTITUDE - Lower nose to level flight attitude
TRIM - For acceleration
5 Knots prior to desired cruise airspeed:
POWER - Reduce to cruise settings
ATTITUDE - Set level flight picture
TRIM - Check ball
Descent-to-Cruise Transition
Passing 100 Feet prior to level-off altitude
POWER - Advance to normal cruise
ATTITUDE - Raise the nose to level flight picture
TRIM - Trim for power addition
RE-TRIM - Check ball
Cruise-to-Descent Transition
POWER - Reduce to 20% ATTITUDE - 5 degrees nose low TRIM - For power reduction CLEAR - As required RE-TRIM - Check ball
Constant Angle of Bank Turns
CLEAR ROLL-IN RUDDER CROSSCHECK P.A.T. ROLL-OUT 1/3 LEVEL TRIM
Turn Pattern Procedure
Consecutive constant angle of bank turns at 30/45/60 for 90/180/360. Two per angle in opposite directions. Watch nose rolling through level on 45/60.
