Q

What are the three types of energy resources, and how much of the worlds energy are produced by them and what examples

A

Non-renewable – 86% – fossil fuels – finite stock

Renewable – 9.3% – flow of resources – HEP, solar, wind, wave

Recyclable – 4.4% – can be reused e.g. biofuels and nuclear power

Q

Describe how the global oil consumption has changed over time, And aimed example of a rapidly growing country and what most oil consumed goes towards

A

– Consumption rising since the 1990s due to increasing demand for energy in wealthier populations – mainly through development and industrialisation in emerging countries such as China
– Chinese consumption has travelled during this time making it the second highest global consumer of oil – behind USA – 12% and 20% respectively
– 70% of oil consumed is to transport people and goods around the world and is used at a rate of 1000 barrels per second

A

– Periods of recession e.g. after 2008 – economy slowdown so if you are goods were bought – less demand for oil – price fall

– conflict between oil rich nations – e.g. 2013 to 14 Iran and Saudi Arabia failed to agree production targets, Saudi Arabia produced more and prices fell

A
  • maintain profit and shareholders

- don’t believe alone operations have impact on planet

18
Q

See importance of renewables but main aim to obtain energy security as cheaply as possible: reliable and affordable every vital for economies growth and improvement of living standards

20
Q

Describe possible Consumers attitudes to energy

A

Cheap and reliable- increasingly aware of Co2 emmiosuob but will individual changes make a difference?

21
Q

Describe possible Environmental group attitudes to energy

A

World leaders to invest time and money into use renewable energy as there is increasing concern over Impact fossil fuels are facing and will have on our planet
