A

Sales of welfare friendly products are much lower than the reported levels of concern for animal welfare.
Citizen views are conceptualizations of ideal world when they are not confirmed through consumer behaviours.

Trends in production animals

A
  • More of dollar goes to retailer than farmer
  • Less dairy cows, but total milk production per cow has increased
  • Decrease in number of agricultural operations. Less farms=more animals per farm= resources consolidated leading to better animal welfare but could also mean desensitized to the individual sufferining as they always have another cow.
