- Enforce the provisions of the Act.
- Promote better standards of advertising.
- Initiate legal proceedings against those who breach the Act.
- Investigate complaints from the public and provide advice.
- Monitor EU law to ensure Ireland complies.
- Present an annual report to the Minister for Trade, Industry and Commerce.
