Constraints, (forces) Flashcards
What’s a constraint?
It’s when you apply force.
What’s compression?
When you squeeze material.
What’s tension?
It’s the opposite of compression when you pull the material outwards on both sides.
What’s torsion?
When you twist a material in opposite directions.
What’s deflection?
It’s a force that bends material towards each other. ex; crush a coke can.
What’s shearing?
It’s a force that cuts the material. ex; knifes, scissors, etc.
What’s the property hardness?
Resists deformation when hit.
What’s the property resilience?
Tough and strong and resists impacts.
What’s the property malleability?
Ability to be shaped.
What’s the property ductility?
Pulled into a wire, (using tension) without breaking.
What’s the property elasticity?
Bounces back to its original shape.
What’s the property electrical conductivity?
Conducts an electrical charge
What’s the property corrosion resistance?
Resists smoke, salt, and chemical products.
