Considerations for Volunteers to Volunteer Flashcards
A charity event is organised and we will look at 3 different volunteers:
1: Young female, fresh out of school
2: Female, Director of HR, introverted, want to put HR experience to good use
3: Male, successful, highly paid, young engineer
Why could be the reasons these volunteers want to volunteer?
1 - Acquire new skills and knowledge for personal growth and development, to make new friends and be part of an organisation or community that she wants to tap on, personal interest
2 - Sense of achievement, personal interest in the area of the service provided
3 - Desire to give back to the community, acquire new skills and knowledge
Explain 3 factors which one of the female volunteers would likely consider when deciding to volunteer for this event.
ANY 3
1. Appropriate matching of services - when placed in the area that she feels that she can truly contribute and give her a sense of satisfaction, will she be motivated to volunteer. 2. Recognising volunteers for their contributions - whether the organisation acknowledge her presence, appreciate her contributions, and celebrate her successes. 3. Opportunities for skills development and personal growth - motivates her to remain committed to volunteer in the organisation when she feels that there are opportunities provided to achieve her goals of skills and personal development. 4. Effective communication with volunteers - whether the organisation is willing to listen, allow her to raise concerns, share opinions and give suggestions.
