Insure ramp is polisged
Use an electronic balance to cal. Masses of trolleys
Ignore initial dots where trolley is given push & final dots where trolley is slowing down

Steps

Arrange apparatus as in diagram (don’t forget magnets)
Lift 1end of the runway so that trolley 1 wich is attatched to the ticker tape travels at constant speed
Place trolley 1 at top of runway and trolley 2 aprox halfway down
Turn on ticker timer and give trolley 1 push so it collides onto trolley 2
Stop both trolleys at the end of runway
Cal. Velocity of trolley 1 before and after collision
Find mass of both trolles
Calc. Momentum before and after collision
Repeat exp. using different masses on the trolleys at different speeds
