what are their core values?
- tradition - traditional ideas and institutions are worth preserving because they benefit society
- human imperfection - humans are selfish and greedy, so they crave order and stability
what is one nation conservatism?
there shouldn’t be much division between the rich and poor e.g. Sunak’s furlough scheme during covid
what’s corporatism?
government and interest group elites work together and make important decisions without the voters
what’s paternalism?
when the gov, people or organisations limit the freedom of others for their own good
what’s the organic society?
-classic conservatives believe that society is more like a living organism than a machine
-society depends on the relationships between very different organs with different functions
-humans have duties in society and obligations to each other
what’s neoliberalism?
free markets, reduced public spending, low taxes, deregulation
what’s neoconservatism?
maintain order, protect traditional institutes and values, patriotism
