Homelessness ?

A
  1. Homelessness = lack of shelter in which to sleep and carry out basic activities such as bathing
  2. People who are homeless may find themselves in a cycle, moving back and forth between the streets and shelters
  3. Often suffer from poor health - because of the exposure to the cold or rain, hunger and lack of sleep
  4. Suffer illnesses - such as skin infections, respiratory problems and stress disorders

A
  1. Lack of proper garbage disposal system - may lead to dumping of garbage into open drains and areas outside houses
  2. Improper disposal of garbage - can attract pests - such as rats - that carry along germs and bacteria - which can be harmful to humans
  3. E.g. Guanabara Bay - Rio De Jeneiro, Brazil - polluted as a result of untreated sewage from nearby slums
