What is the Computer Misuse Act?

A

1) Unauthorised Access to Computer Programs/Data - Includes hacking into people’s computers (e.g. Using Passwords, Stealing Identification)
2) Unauthrorises access with further criminal intent - An extension on the first but with the intention to carry out further criminal acts, such as an act of fraud or copyright breach
3) Unauthorised Modification of Computer Material - Includes falsifying exam grades, spreading viruses to corrupt data

An act that gives the rights to the creators of certain kinds of matrerial, allowing them control over the way in which material is used.

A

Revoking control of the user using the content and placing it in the control of the program running the content (e.g. Encrypting the content or making it so it can only be ran on one device)

A

1) Means copyright can be dealt with and content can’t be taken illegally
2) Ensures creators receieve the correct pay for their work as it isn’t stolen - this incentivises the production of new works as creators receive fairer pay
