Consequences Flashcards
What are the consequences of deindustrialisation?
- loss of jobs in the secondary sector
- less money coming into the area -> less infrastructure and decreased funding -> low QoL
What are the consequences of internal migration?
- high demand in one area, low demand in the other
- land and house prices will increase in one area
- more demand where people go, very less demand where people leave
What are the consequences of international migration?
- more people migrate to HICs from LICs/VLICs or war-stricken countries
- will have an inflated population to provide for
What are the consequences of decentralisation?
Land value plummets, so accommodation and land is cheaper to buy.
What are the consequences of e-commerce?
Less people physical shop at local businesses which will go out of business. Likely to lead to decentralisation.
What are the consequences of regeneration?
As land value is low, new starting businesses get up there with cheaper costs - social and economical benefits.

What are the consequences of TNC investments (FDI)?
There is an increase in economic growth for the invested in the area and therefore a more significant contribution to the GNI.
What are the consequences of regional inequality?
The QoL varies between the classes. The richer people get more opportunities than the poorer people due to the divide in wealth, thus creating an endless cycle of richer families getting richer, while poorer families remain poor.
What are some consequences of sustainable strategies?

- usually quite expensive and difficult to carry out
- losses for oil and fossil fuels companies.
What are the consequences of UK / EU regional funding?

- better QoL
- attracts residents
- living and land costs increase
What are consequences of counter-urbanisation?
- more people moving to rural / rural-urban fringes increase house prices in those areas
- higher demand in fringe areas relative to the urban areas.
What are the consequences of inter-dependence?
Money, people, labour and goods are traded between them
