What is broadband?
Broadband modems connect to the internet using a high speed data links

Can be used to beam data signals to and from several sattalites orbiting the earth

Using a mobile phone or dongle you can connect to the internet via your mobile phone company
What is dial-up?
Dial-up modems connect to a telephone line which dials the telephone number of your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
What is cable internet connection?
Cable internet that is provided by companies such as Virgin Media in the UK. They often come as a bundle with TV and landline packages.

Enables you to connect to the internet in public places such as airports and restaurants. It is also used at home via a wireless router

Used to operate a wireless keyboard or mouse
Share files between a mobile phone and another digital device.
Connects your car speakers to your mobile to operate hands free calling
What is a GIS (Geographical Information System)
A system which manages and displays geographical information.
E.G. Satellite Navigation, Mapping apps like google earth
