What happens to persons ideal self.
May not be consistent with what actually happens in life experiences of that person.
Difference in ideal self and actual experiences
Known as incongruence.
What does rogers say
We long to feel, experience and behave in ways which are consistent it’s our self image and which reflect what we would lie to be our ideal self.
We prefer to see ourselves in ways that are consistent with our self image we may us defence mechanisms like denial or repression in order to feel less threatened by some of what we consider to be our undesirable feelings.
Incongruent self image.
Denial as truth will hurt them.
Young people behave negative due to been hurt and let down in the past.
The act out in situations when you by feeling close to a Person in order to keep up their defence mechanics,s and ensuring that thy a e hurting the p room before the person hurts
Happens in child who is unaware of self worth
They feel the person will let them down As they have been in the past S a result of this they act out
Children in foster care
Children do not no how to love.
Get into a home which shows them unconditional love and support they react in a negative way in order to protect themselves from being hurt.
