Simple- soft tissue connections only

Web creep (distal migration of the web commissure)
What is Poland syndrome?
Congenital disorder characterized by:
1) unilateral chest wall hypoplasia (abscence of sternal head of pec major)
2) symbrachydactyly with shortening of middle fingers
3) hypoplasia of hand and forearm
What are the three types of polydactyly?
1) preaxial- thumb duplication
2) central- middle fingers
3) post axial- small finger duplication
Postaxial polydactyly is most common in which group?
10x more common in African Americans; if Caucasian then need a genetic work up
Congenital thumb hypoplasia is commonly associated with what other condition?
Congenital abscence of the radius; bilateral 60%; high a/w syndromes
What is treatment based on in thumb hypoplasia?
Stability of the CMC joint
How is thumb hypoplasia treated?
If CMC joint present goal is to stabilize joint.
If absent, thumb amputation and pollicization of the index finger
What is the standard treatment for macrodactyly?
Local enlargement of digit;
Treat with epiphysiodesis when finger length of adult father
FGF2 is linked to what congenital syndrome?
Apert’s
What is Apert’s syndrome?
Complex syndactyly of hands and feet linked to a mutation in FGFr2
Pts have rosebud hands, flattened skull and wide set eyes
Where is the pathology a/w congenital trigger thumb?
Thickened FPL tendon (“Notta’s node”)
What is the treatment for congenital trigger thumb?
If correctible, passive stretching and splinting; of older and/or fixed can perform A1 pulley release
