What is Compliance?
This is where you go along with the majority even if you don’t share their beliefs. This may happen when you want to appear “normal”.
What is identification?
This is conforming to what is expected of your social role.
What experiment did Asch conduct?
A laboratory experiment about conformity on unambiguous tasks.
What design was the experiment?
Independent groups design.
What was the method?
In a group of 8 people were asked one by one to say which comparison line matched the standard line. Only one participant was genuine the rest were confederates.
What were the results?
In the control trials 0.7% got the answer wrong and 37% in the critical trials. 75% conformed at least once.
