Conformity Definition
Conformity is a change in behaviour or belief towards a group as a result of real, imagined or perceived group pressure.
Criteria for conforming
- Must be a change in behaviour
- Must be pressured to change behaviour by either real, imagined or perceived pressure
- Group needs not be in your immediate surroundings.

Individual can use the group for acceptance or a feeling of belonging and security.
Informational Conformity
The to be right reason for conforming.\Individual can use the group to expand his knowledge of the world around them.
The group can help with the evaluation of the self and of others.
Information on how to dress obtained by the group, not because of fear of rejection but because you want to be right.
Reasons for deviating from the norm

Nonconformist as they violate the dress code of larger society but conforms to counter norms set by the subcultural or marginal group.

An individualist makes decisions completely independently from the group.
