Q

describe the prisoner’s dilemma

A

Two suspects (equally guilty) are questioned by the District Attorney separately.

There’s not enough evidence to convict them of a maximum offense.

Suspects are each offered these opportunities:

If one confesses and the other does not, the confessor gets immunity.

If both confess, each receives a moderate sentence.

If neither confesses, each receives a lighter sentence (Rapoport, 1960).
