What is conflict?
A perceived incompatibility of actions and goals between two or more parties
When conflicts escalate when left unattended, it is referred to as ?

What is a conflict spiral?
It is a conflict that grows in intensity and number of people involved as two sides distrust each other and cease communication and winning becomes more important than resolving the problem
What are threats?
Threats are “messages of the intention by one person or a group to behave in ways that are detrimental to the interest of another person or group, depending on what the latter does or does not do.”
What are the 4 main sources of conflict?
- Pursuance of Self-interests
- Competition
- Perceived Injustice
- Misperception
The pursuance of self-interests creates situations referred to as?

Suspects are each offered these opportunities:
If one confesses and the other does not, the confessor gets immunity.
If both confess, each receives a moderate sentence.
If neither confesses, each receives a lighter sentence (Rapoport, 1960).
What is a social trap?
A situation in which the conflicting parties, by each rationally pursuing its self-interest, become caught in mutually destructive behaviour

it refers to the conflict that results when people neglect to use resources that they share in common in moderation
