Q

Summarise the parable of the Good Samaritan and explain what it teaches us today about how to treat others.

A

A man was walking from Jerusalem to Jericho when attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and left him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road and when he saw him passed by on the other side of the road. As did a levite. But a Samaritan came where the man was and took pity on the man. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his donkey, bought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he payed for the man to stay at the inn and said ‘look after him and when I return I will reimburse you for an extra expenses you may have.’ This story means treat people how you want to be treated.

A

Christianity - teaches that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. Therefore there is no reason to treat people differently
Judaism - treat foreigners with great respect. Love them as we love ourselves
Islam - teaches that men and women are equal in the sight of Allah. They are individually accountable for their actions and will be judged equally by Allah
