What do Locale settings achieve?
Locale settings control how different values are displayed within Salesforce
Give 4 examples of how locale settings change how information is presented.
- Language
- Format of date and time
- Address
- Currency
- Name
- Number fields
Is the locale setting an org-wide setting or an individual preference setting?
You can set it to be org-wide through company information or you can go into your settings to go change it just for yourself.
How does an admin control language settings? Can a user specify which language they wish to use instead?
Admins can set a default language, yes users can choose the language they wish to read in through their personal settings however the admin chooses the possible languages.
What are the three levels of language support does Salesforce offer?
- Fully supported
- End-user
- Platform only
What are fully supported languages in Salesforce and how many languages are there?
Fully supported languages mean all Salesforce features including UI, setup and help will display in the chosen language. 18 languages are supported.
What does end-user language support offer and how many are offered?
These languages will have translations for all standard object field labels and pages but not in setup and help. There are 17 languages offered.
What do platform languages support offer and how many are offered? What happens when a translation is not provided?
It is possible to provide translations for customizations and standard fields. If translations are not provided it will revert to English. There are over 30 languages.
How many characters are in an Org Id?

What are the three different licence types in Salesforce? Explain each.
- User licences - Provide baseline of features available to the user
- Feature licences - grant access to additional features not included in standard licence such as CRM content, Marketing and Knowledge. These are set in the user record.
- Permission set licences - Gradually grant additional access to features not included in the user licence.
What does Salesforce API achieve?
Salesforce API allows access to Salesforce programmatically instead of using the UI. Such as data loader or integration with other systems.

In the company information screen
Can a user select their own time zone?
Yes, there is an org-wide default setting the admin can set but the user can override this for their own personal preference.
How would an admin allow different currencies for the users?
They would enable the multi-currency setting on the company information page. Once enabled the admin can choose the currency available for users to be able to pick their desired currency.
How can you track conversion rates for currency overtime?
When enabling multi-currency you can enable Advanced Currency Management under the Manage Currencies tab.
How can a user see the converted currency amount to the users personal currency option?
By enabling multi-currency if the currency they are viewing is different to the currency they have chosen as a personal setting you can see the conversion in brackets by enabling Parenthetical Currency Conversion under the Manage Currencies tab.
How would you display the converted currency in a report?
Amount will be the org default in a report, if you wish to see the converted currency as well if parenthetical currency conversion is enabled you can insert ‘Amount (converted)’ into the report. It will allow you to change the converted currency at the bottom right of the report.
What are Business Hours and Holidays used for?
To outline the times when users are available to support the customers and are the basis for the computation of support processes hours (such as case escalation rules and entitlement processes).
Can you outline more than 1 business hour?
Yes, you can set different hours (maybe 24hr support for premium customers)
How would you avoid case escalations calculating during holidays such as Christmas?
You would insert a holiday into your org, this will cancel out during the period of the date and time.
What does a fiscal year achieve? What are the 2 types and explain them.
Fiscal year defines the business year of the company (accounting year, tax year etc).
Standard fiscal year - Follows the Gregorian calendar (12 months) and can be configured to start on the first day of any month.
Custom fiscal year - Defined in custom periods and can be based on existing templates.
How is storage handled in Salesforce? Name them and explain. How can you find how much storage you have left?
Data storage - Used by creating records
File storage - Used by storing files in attachments, documents chatter etc.
You can find the capacity under storage usage in setup.
What are the two options for displaying a default record page views?
- Full view - data-dense view that focuses on details and related lists
- Grouped view - divides record information into groupings across multiple regions and tabs
If you wish to not display a default page view, how can you customise it and how can it be applied?
You can use Lightning App Builder and apply it to apps, records or profiles. You can also override it to be an org default.

- Related List Hover Links
- Inline Editing in Lightning Experience

- Enable Hover Details - Display summary of a record when hovering over a record link, you can control the fields displayed in the compact page layout.
- Related List Hover Links - Adds related list links at the top of the record detail page or a custom object detail page in setup. This mainly affects Salesforce Classic.
- Inline Editing in Lightning Experience - When a user hovers over the field they can edit the field by using the pencil icon, if its a lock icon it is non editable.
- Disable Navigation Bar Personalization in Lightning Experience - Disables option for a user to customise an apps navigation bar
- Enable Printable List Views - A button will display to generate a print-ready format of the data in the view
- Enable Salesforce Notification Banner - Enable Salesforce notification banner on accounts, contacts, setup area and dashboards.
When will temporary tabs be used?
When a user clicks on an item that does not have a parent object in the nav bar.

What does In-App Guidance achieve? Where can you insert it?
Used to create hands-on interactive tours to guide users through onboarding or feature introductions by step-by-step prompts.
You can insert it on object record pages, and object home pages, set up, create new records, and edit records.
How do you determine which fields are displayed when hover details are enabled?
The first few fields in the compact page layout determine the fields shown.
What is the App Menu used for?
Can be used to change the apps visibility in the app launcher.
What is the Guidance center used for?
Guides admins in setting up and enhancing the Salesforce org and provides recommendations tailored for the org at the admins experience.
What is Salesblazer segment and where can you find it?
You can find it on the Guidance center and its content authored by sales leads, sellers and sales ops experts.
