Q

Token economy

A
  • Tokens must be exchanged for reinforcers or back up reinforces that someone finds reinforcing
  • Be clear about when and where the exchange will happen and define behaviors well or drift and inconsistencies will occur. Do not negotiate or use punishment.
  • Allow the person to contact the reinforcer early and don’t make it hard to assess

Q

Aquaculture recall training

A
  • Use conditioned reinforcers paired with the sound of a tone so fish can be let go to live and they will come back when signaled.
  • Tested on 10,000 juvenile red sea breams were trained and released, later 4,000 returned. Eventually their prey learnt the tone was not safe as they would be fed on.

A

-Conditioned reinforcement can be used to train animals to tolerate medical procedures which allows sedation to be avoided

Q

Target training

A

-Animals were given a physical target that they must touch to receive a reinforcer, useful for positioning so trainers don’t have to get close e.g. get animal onto a scale

Q

TAGteach

A

-Acoustic markers can provide positive reinforcement and act as immediate feedback for sports performance without needing a social response so learner can focus

Q

Shaping

A

-Existing behaviour is put on extinction to produce novel behaviors and the closest approximation to the target behaviour is reinforced

Q

Sea World training

A
  • Clicker training links behaviour and primary reinforcer
  • Dolphin is reinforced for reaching a target on the surface of the water which is raised until the target behaviour is reached and the target can be phased out
