A sentence written in “if/then” format.
Conditional Statement
The “if” part of a conditional statement.
Hypothesis
The “then” part of a conditional statement.
Conclusion
A statement formed from a conditional statement by swapping the hypothesis and conclusion.
Converse
The opposite of the hypothesis or conclusion
Negation
A statement formed by negating both the hypothesis and conclusion of a conditional statement
Inverse
A statement formed by negating and swapping both the hypothesis and conclusion of a conditional statement.
Contrapositive
An example that shows that a conjecture is false
Counterexample
A combined statement formed when both the conditional statement and its converse are true.
Biconditional statement
Must be biconditional(both its converse and conditional statement are true) to be valid
Definition
A claim or an unproven statement based on observations
