A
Anaemia with normal MCV (80-100)

List some of the causes of normocytic anaemia
A
- Anaemia of chronic disease
- Haemolytic anaemia
- Failure of RBC production:
- Chronic kidney disease/ renal failure- abnormal EPO drive
- Bone marrow failue/ suppression e.g. aplastic anaemia, chemo
- Bone marrow infiltration- malignancy
- B2 deficiency
- Uncompensated increase in plasma volume
- pregnancy
- fluid overload
- Acute blood loss
- Oesophageal varices
- peptic ulcer
- trauma
- Pooling of RBCs in spleen: Hypersplenism in portal cirrhosis
