- Immunocompromised: HIV, CSs
- DM
- Cushing’s
- GIT surgery
- Cannulation
- Poor dental hygiene
- Taking inhaled corticosteroids
- Broad spectrum abx
List some risk factors leading to the development of vulvo-vaginitis (yeast infection/ thrush)
Pregnancy/ Pill

What is the most common candida species?
Candida Albicans
List 5 main manifestations of candidiasis
- Oral candidiasis
- Oesophageal candidiasis
- Candidial Skin infection
- Vulvovaginitis (thrush)
- Invasive candidiasis
State a symptom of oesophageal candidiasis. Which investigation could you conduct to diagnose oesophageal candidiasis?
Dysphagia
Endoscopy +/- biopsy
Describe some of the symtpoms of candidial vulvovaginitis. How would you diagnose this?
Pruritus, cottage-cheese like discharge, dysuria
Diagnosis: clinical, can do vaginal swab + MCS
