Conclusion Flashcards

Q

Conclude what you know about the two cell fates pre-implantation and their respective models.

A

To conclude, there are two important cell fates made pre-implantation in the development of the mouse embryo. These two decisions are the segregation of TE from ICM shortly after the 8 cell stage, and the segregation of PrE from EPI from early morula. These cell fates will the generate distinctively different cell types as implantation starts and embryogenesis continues. Although still some uncertainty and contreversy about how these two cell fates are determined, it is clear from the various models that microenvironment, polarity and history may all be involved in regulating these decisions, but to what extent we are unsure.
