Conclusion Flashcards
Summary of both poems
In Death and the Maiden, through the cycle of violence and consequences, Dorfman provides an example of the negative consequences that people’s actions can have on themselves. Similarly, in I is a Long Memoried Woman, Nichols explores the ignorance of consequences of someone’s actions on themself in order to create an overall positive outcome.
Ultimately…
Ultimately, both writers seek to use their writing to promote the consideration of consequences when making important decisions, and to show what can come of a situation in which people don’t consider these consequences. Therefore, they may have a desire to show that the fear of consequences should affect people’s behaviour, as we should be able to recognise the negative events that may occur due to our actions.
