In conclusion, the poem “Daddy” successfully explores the suffering faced by the speaker as a result of her father. The poem ends with the quote “daddy, daddy, you bastard, I’m through” which successfully concludes the poem as it suggests that the speaker is finally finished with her father, his memory and the suffering he has caused her. He has had a hold on her her whole life and now she feels like she doesn’t have to suffer because of him.
