CERTAINTY
the knowledge that has been established beyond any reasonable doubt
being certain that in the right conditions and plants will grow. it’s not absolute certainty but because it happened for years over and over again, we think of this conclusion as certainty
EVIDENCE
a reliable justification, a fact, or a claim that someone offers in support of another claim
a photo where Katie was wearing a yellow dress, it’s not proof, but it’s and evidence which was captured at a certain time.
EXPLANATION
you use explanation as telling someone your truth in a way that is most understandable
explaining, that you think today’s weather is good because…. (it’s 18 degrees, or it’s not going to rain, so it’s better when it’s sunny)
INTERPRETATION
examine the facts in a particular way and the figuring out what they mean. the act of explaining, reframing, or otherwise showing your own understanding of something.
we always interpret while analyzing literature, we interpret what would one or another metaphor, saying… mean in understanding a context with our own understading.
OBJECTIVITY
the ability to observe, interpret, analyze, and report such that we have not shaped our processes or our findings by our personal wishes. not being influenced by personal feelings or opinions but considering only facts
when being a teacher, you must look at a student’s work objectively when only focusing on facts, if the answer is correct or not, without any sympathy or anger, to give him a fair mark.
POWER
the ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way
because knowledge gives us power, a student who is studying manipulation in psychology will have the power to effectively manipulate others
RESPONSIBILITY
being morally accountable for one’s actions
when you break a cup, even though you know your mom is going to be mad, you take responsibility for your actions so all the consequences would appear to you.
VALUES
values reflect what we consider to be important or beneficial. it’s often influenced by our culture, education, or social background.
if someone would have a value which is kindness, they think it is important in our lives, their actions will show such value, such as donating, being nice to anyone, etc.
CULTURE
Knowledge gained throughout the years through experiences, in a specific group of people.
the shoes in the house compared to USA culture and Asian culture. Asian believe everyone wearing shoes in the house is disrespectable, USA don’t think it’s important if a person is wearing shoes or not.
JUSTIFICATION
the persuasive explanation that the actions, or arguments were correct, or can be understood.
i did bad on my test because i didn’t learn the right-angle triangle properties and i didn’t revise the trigonometry chapter.
PERSPECTIVE
the particular viewpoint from which the individual takes in the information and decides what is important or what something means.
a glass half full or half empty
TRUTH
a statement or belief that accurately reflects reality
gravity exists. it’s true because if gravity wouldn’t exist, a pencil would flow.
