Computer Networks Crash Course Flashcards
What is latency?
It’s the time it takes to a message to transfer.
What does LAN stands for?
Local Area Network. Network or portion of a network that is not publicly accessible to the internet.
What is a MAC address?
It’s a Media Access Control address. It’s used to transmit data to the right machine on a LAN.
What is a collision domain? How to improve efficiency and reduce collisions?
It’s a shared carrier. A part of the network where packets can collide. To improve efficiency we can shrink the number of devices in that shared carrier, creating more collision domains with less devices in it and use switches to transmit to another collision domain if necessary.
What is the use of the Hop limit?
Track the Hop Count and detect routing problems.
