System requirements
- Minimum requirements needed to run the software: Hard drive, RAM, CPU
- Other requirements: minimun screen resolution (ie: 1024x576); OS
→ If yor PC does not meet the minimum requirements, the software will be slow and unresponsive.

Online with installers
Website or app store purchases, dowsloading and instaling is automated, simple easy UI
Online without installers
Freeware or Open Source Software (source code is publicly accessible and available for anyone to see, modify, and distribute) - compressed in a .zip or .exe file and decide where you want it to be installed
Physical media (portable storage media)
Go to a store and buy a CD/DVD of the software; installation starts automatically on insert - however this method is outdated
Installation wizard
A program that presents you with options to preform software installation based on your preferences and choices
EULA
Strict liscence agreement that you must read and agree to before installing
Inputting a product key
(or activation code, serial number, registration number)
Key emailed or given when intalling/running the software for the first time
- to link the copy of the software to you
- to prevent the same software being installed on more devices
Installing extras
Other useful software to be installed as an extention - possibility for dangerous spyware; only download from a reputable source or otherwise deselect from wizard
A tour of the program
A clip or presentation that shows you the latest features and how to start using the software etc.
Uninstalling Software
Run a specific uninstall programme found in the start menu or control panel to ensure all files and folders are deleted
Finding files in windows
- The search feature in file explorer
- Windows seach facility (windows button+S)
Other ways to manage files
- Choose suitable alternative program to open a file
- View or add extra info about a file (metadata)
Common hardare failures
- Forcing connectors into wrong slots; short circuit
- Spilling liquids on equipment
- Power surges
- Improper cooling
