Compound Measures Flashcards
1
Q
What are compound measures?
A
Compound measures are types of measure that involve two or more different units. Examples of compound measures include m/s, g/cm³, population per km² and miles per gallon.
2
Q
Distance, speed and time
A
- Distance ÷ Speed = Time
- Time × Speed = Distance
- Distance ÷ Time = Speed
3
Q
Density, mass and volume
A
- Mass ÷ Volume = Density
- Mass ÷ Density = Volume
- Volume × Density = Mass
- Density is a compound measure- it is a measure of mass per unit volume. Density, mass and volume are connected by the equations above.
4
Q
Pressure, force and area
A
- Force ÷ Area = Pressure
- Force ÷ Pressure = Area
- Pressure × area = Force
