Compound Flashcards
What do atoms combine with to have a full outer shell?
Atoms combine with other atoms because they like to have a full outer shell of electrons.
What happens when they have a full outer shell?
They are more stable.
Covalent compound
A compound consisting of 2 or more non metal elements where they share electrons in order to have a full outer shell.
Ionic compound
A compound consisting of non-metal and metal elements, where the metal element gives electron(s) to the non-metal element ih order to have a full outer shell.
