Health
A state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease
Fitness
A person’s ability to meet the physical demands of the environment
Agility
The ability to move and change direction quickly at speed whilst maintaining control
Coordination
The ability to use two or more different body parts together smoothly and efficiently
Speed
The maximum rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement or cover a distance in a period of time, putting the body parts into action as quickly as possible
Balance - static + dynamic
The maintenance of the centre of mass over the bass of suport
Static - balancing whilst still
Dynamic - balancing while moving
Cardiovascular endurance
The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to the working muscles, avoiding fatigue, over a prolonged period of time.
Flexibility
The range of movement possible at a joint
Muscular endurance
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to undergo repeated contractions avoiding fatigue, over a prolonged period of time
Strength
The ability to overcome a resistance
Explosive strength
Product of speed and strength
Static strength
The ability to hold a body part in a static position. Muscle length stays the same/maximum force that can be applied to an immovable object
Dynamic strength
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to undergo repeated contractions avoiding fatigue over a prolonged period of time
Maximal
The largest force possible in a single maximal contraction
Reaction time
Time taken to initiate a response to a stimulus
