Subject complement

A
  • is a kind of complement that refers to or describes the subject of the clause.
  • is required by a few select group of verbs:
    verb: be
    change of state verbs: become, get, turn, turn into, fall, go
    sensory verbs: seem, appear, look, sound, taste, feel
    position verbs: hang, kneel, stand, crouch, sit, lie, remain
    verbs of motion: rush, go, come, run, jump, etc

is a complement of a verb that also takes a direct object
Object complement describes some property of the Direct Object
Object complement can be stative of inchoative (verb of motion)
