Competitive & Pricing Flashcards
Are Microsoft and Google catching up to AWS? And/or Is AWS feeling the heat from competitors?
AWS has more services, more features, more experience, the largest customer and partner ecosystem, and the fastest pace of innovation of any other cloud provider.
- Customer focus
- AWS has more services and more features within those services than any other cloud provider - by a large amount
- AWS is innovating faster than anyone else
- AWS has the most customers and the biggest ecosystem (millions of active customers, tens of thousands of partners)
- global infrastructure is unmatched (54 AZs, 18 regions)
- no other provider offers the same capabilities for enterprises
Why would a customer select AWS over Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (or any other provider)?
We believe customers choose AWS over other cloud providers because of three factors: functionality and pace of innovation, partner and customer ecosystem, and experience.
What is Amazon’s position on multi-cloud strategies?
Some companies start off thinking they should use multiple clouds, but when they get deeper into their planning, we find that the vast majority don’t end up choosing to be multi-cloud. They predominantly use a single provider.
- need to standardize on lowest common denominator
- pain to manage multiple stacks
- give up some of your buying leverage
- if multi-cloud strategy to obtain operational redundancy, we recommend architecting a multi-AZ or multi-region deployment on AWS.
