Competency Assessment Study Flashcards
Continuous Measurement
Frequency- the number of times a behavior occurs
Rate- the number of times a behavior occurs within a specified period of time
Durations the measure of the total extent of time in which a behavior occurs.
Latency- The elapsed time from the onset of a stimulus to the initiation of a response.
Permanent Product- recording the impact of the behavior on the environment
Inter-Response Time- The them from one response (behavior) to another response
Discontinuous Measurement
Partial Interval Recording- Measuring whether the target behavior occurred at any time during the interval
Whole Interval Recording- Measuring whether a behavior occurred throughout the entire interval.
Momentary Time Sampling- Measuring whether a behavior occurred at the end of the interval.
Preference Assessment
Free Operant- an observation-based method good for learners who are unable to select between highly-preferred and low-preferred items, those who engage in challenging behavior or when the therapist is unfamiliar with the child. The child is given access to a variety of toys and activities. The longer the child engages with an item, the stronger the influence is that the item is preferred.
Single Stimulus- Appropriate for children who have a difficulty selecting between two or more stimuli.
Paired Stimulus- Appropriate for children who can adequately select preferred items from an array of two.
Multiple Stimulus without replacement- appropriate for children who can adequately select preferred items from a sizable array of options. The selected item is removed, but not replaced.
Multiple Stimulus with Replacement- appropriate for children who can adequately select preferred items among a large array of items. Items that were not selected are replaced with a new stimuli.
ABC Model
Antecedent (what occurs BEFORE as a behavior trigger)
Behavior (the child’s response)
Consequence (what occurs AFTER and in response to the behavior)
Discrete Trial Training DTT
a single cycle of behaviorally-based and systematic instructional routine.
SD-Prompt (if necessary)- response-consequence/reinforcement-inter-trial interval
Naturalistic Training
Learning in a natural setting
