Q

requirements for compass swing

A

change in base(large change in lat)
major change in aircraft equipment
lightning strike
aircraft parked in the same direction for long period of time
when new compass is fitted
any time compass or recorded deviation is suspect
when specified in the aircraft maintenance schedule

Q

compass swing

A

way of minimising compass deviation
small magnets in case adjusted to make more accurate. still has residual deviation after that
deviation card showing residual deviation completed by doing compass swing
residual deviation- deviation left/ it still has
