What does Hobbes & Locke have in common?
Both are a part of the social contract tradition. The basic idea of the contract is that individuals agree to create politcal authority structures in order to protect themselvs.
What is Hobbes view on the social contract?
Hobbes sees the social contract as a way to create external politcal power.
How does Looke see the social contract?
Locke sees the contract as a source of order and as a reflection of a divenly inspired law.
What is Hobbes standpoint on religion?
He rejected the the influence of religion. He emphasized direct observation, mathetmatics and logics over the olrder traditions of Thomas Aquinas and Aristotle.
How does Locke connect reason and natural law?
Locke claims that ther is a natural law that we know by reason. From this people know that being equal an independet, no one ought to harm another in his life.
