The first city in the United States to use an automobile as a police cruiser was Boston. Placed in service at station16 in July 1903. It covered about 60 miles a day. Chauffeur driven, a uniformed officer rode on a seat high enough to allow him to look over the back fences.
Community policing
is a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies that support the systematic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime social disorder in fear of crime.
