The process of sending and receiving information

Barriers to communication
Environmental- your surroundings ( a big concert where it is loud)
Attitude- your aversion to a subject ( avoiding a certain topic)
Social- your aversion to a person ( avoiding a person)
Cultural- difference in personal backgrounds ( pound in Britain is a currency while in the us it is a weight)
Educational- difference in knowledge ( I am smarter than another kid so he does not understand what I am saying)
Social Penetration Levels and Meanings
Superficial ( everyone can see and it is not that deep, it is the layer that everyone sees and knows)
Intimate ( it is what you show when you are friends with someone. It is not too deep but not really deep. It is something you share with a person who is nothing more than a friend.)
Personal ( something you share with your best friend or family. It is pretty deep but not the deepest)
Core ( your deepest darkest secrets that you don’t share with anyone.)
When you are communicating with someone, you are trying to penetrate them and get under more layers.
