Overcoming Communication Barriers

A
  • Be time and time-sensitive: respond ASAP. IF emotional, let some time pass to cool off.
  • Be purposeful: make purpose of your communication apparent at beginning of conversation.
  • Be a good listener/careful reader: give full attention to the message and context of message.
  • Be context sensitive: use right mode of communication for situation, consider previous interactions, type of relationship, and socio cultural factors.
  • Be proactive: verify facts and get more info.
