In 1885, he proved that electric waves travel through the air.
Who was Marconi?
He was an Italian teenager who was fascinated by Herz’s discovery about electric waves traveling through air. In 1895 he succeeded in using these waves to send messages through the air without wires.
What were the problems with Marconi’s first “wireless”?
It couldn’t be used for speech or music, but later scientists managed to improve on the design so that it could play music and people’s voices.
What were the first photos like?
They were difficult to develop, needing to be developed in a dark room. Photos had to be taken in a studio where the light could be controlled. Cameras were big and difficult to use.

The Dutch and British settlers in the Cape started the mail coach. It was a coach that carried letters/messages and parcels In a large box at the front of the coach to people inland. It also carried passengers.

It looked like a piano with black and white keys

A language that uses short and long signals. Short signals are called dots and long signals are called dashes
