Transmission model
Sender forms a message which is the received and interpreted by receiver, there is no nteraction
Interactional model
Message is sent interpreted and person 2 sends a response
Transactional model
Like the interactional model except context is important and there are multiple interpretations
Echoing
Repeat last few words, encourages the client to keep talking
Paraphrasing
Restating in your own words to show understanding
Summarising
Presenting a summary to the client to confirm accuracy
Paraverbal communication
The messages we transmit through the tone, pitch and pacing of our voices (How we say something not what we say)
The pause
Pausing whilst talking, adds emphasis
What is the purpose of reflective listening?
The purpose of reflective listening is to show the client that you understood what they said and that you demonstarte an interest
