Involves one person and is also called ‘self talk’

Culture is defined as the rules and regulations, the values and beliefs that are carried from our generation to the next
What is hearing?
Hearing is the passive reception of sound
What is listening?
Listening is the act of actively focusing on specific sounds with a purpose
What is the difference between hearing and listening?
You cannot choose to hear but you can choose to listen
Give a characteristic of good listening.
Actively wanting to hear what is being said
What is empathic listening?
Listening with the intent of understanding what the other person is saying
What is critical listening?
Listening with attention to detail - how are they supporting what they are saying?
What is verbal communication?
The use of sounds which make words to express yourself
