What does it mean to communicate?
Communication involves the transfer of information, ideas and feelings from a sender to a receiver(s). Messages are encoded by the sender and decoded by the receiver.

How do we communicate?
Verbal and non verbal
Why is feedback important?
Because the sender then knows that the intended message is being understood by the receiver, and vice-versa.
What do we mean when we say something is a barrier to communication?

What is interpersonal comms and intrapersonal Comms?
interpersonal communication and involves the exchange and sharing of ideas and information, it is face to face communication.
communication only involves yourself thinking and analysing using your own internal senses is intrapersonal communication.

What were the barriers to communication?
Noise, public place, confusion and the urgency of the situation.
Effective listening what are they ?
our ability to hear what is being said - environment and/or hearing impediments
our capacity to understand what is being said - vocabulary, speed of speech, rhythm, enunciation, etc.
What are the 4 types of listeners ?

What are the barriers to listening?
Lack of interest or motivation
