Comms And Combat Systems Flashcards
Joint Message Center (JMC)
Receive, process and transmit message traffic. Consists of radio, ADP and IA
Message precedence: Routine(R)
6 hours, used for all types of message traffic, not of sufficient urgency to require higher precedence.
Message precedence: Priority(P)
3 hours, used for message traffic requiring expeditious action.
Message Precedence: Immediate(O)
30 minutes, reserve for messages relating to situations gravely affecting national security. Requires immediate delivery.
Message Precedence: Flash(Z)
ASAP, no more than 10 minutes. Reserved for initial enemy contact reports or operational combat messages of extreme urgency.
Classifications: 4 types and colors
Unclassified (Green)
Confidential (Blue)- damage or embarrassment
Secret (Red)- serious damage
Top secret (Orange)- exceptionally grave damage

Routers- ADNS
Connect to WANs (WIDE AREA NETWORKS). Uses Logical IP addresses to route between separate networks. Automated Digital Network Systems acts as a gateway for our network.
Switches- MAC addresses
Connect to LANs (Local Area Networks). Uses physical Media Access Control addresses to forward frames to proper connected devices.
