imaging type for checking bone health; also called a “bone scan”
ultrasound (US)
procedure examining internal structures using sound waves to create images
x-ray
type of imaging that uses radiation; often used to evaluate bones or the lungs
BMP
basic metabolism panel; tests for electrolyte & glucose levels
CBC
complete blood count; tests the types and amounts of cells present in the blood
CBC w/ diff
CBC w/ differential; gives more information about the type of cells present in the blood
CMP
comprehensive metabolic panel; more detailed version of the BMP that focuses on organ healh
culture
ordered from body fluids to test for growth of foreign organisms
ECG/ EKG
electrocardiograph; measures the electrical signals of the heart
FSBG
finger stick blood glucose levels
HbA1C (hemoglobin A1C)
test that indicates blood sugar control over the past 3 months; important in diabetes
PFT
pulmonary functions tests; measures the function of the lungs
PT (protime)
prothrombin time, test concerning blood clotting ability
lipid panel
tests for cholesterol and triglyceride levels
liver panel
tests various markers of liver health
TSH
thyroid stimulating hormone; tests thyroid health
UA
urinalysis; tests for kidney health and signs of urinary tract infection
