Measles
A
- cold like symptoms (cough, runny nose, sore throat)
- sore/red eyes - may be sensitive to light
- fever
- grey/white spots on the inside of cheeks
- red/brown blotchy rash appears few days later
- usually starts around head/upper neck before spreading

Rubella (German measles)
A
- red/pink spotty rash
- usually starts behind ears and spreads to head and body
- can be serious in pregnancy
- Aching fingers, wrists and knees
- Fever
- Sore red eyes
- Cold-like symptoms

Shingles
A
- tingling/burning feeling on skin
- blotchy rash appears on one side of body
- usually affects torso but can affect other body parts
- skin can remain painful for weeks after rash has gone

- Flu-like symptoms (fever, swollen neck glands, sore throat)
- Rash that feels like sandpaper
- White coating on tongue which peels leaving it red and swollen (“strawberry tongue”)

- Red ‘blushing’ appearance across cheeks, nose, forehead and chin
- Burning sensation when using water / skincare products
- May get broken blood vessels on skin
- May get small red spots that fill with yellow fluid
- Can be triggered by alcohol, spicy foods, cheese, caffeine, exercise

- Red sores or fluid-filled blisters that burst and crust over leaving golden brown patches
- Itchy and sometimes painful
- Usually on face but can spread to other parts

Impetigo

- Viral infection usually goes away in a few months
- A number of small, firm, raised papules with characteristic small dimple in the middle
- Mostly in armpit, behind the knees and groin

Molluscum contagiosum

- Raised, red patches
- Can also be red spots
- Often itchy and feels like its burning/stinging
- Appears in all different shapes and sizes and anywhere on the body
- Usually due to raised histamine (allergy)
