- needle aspiration if small but not often used, can be diagnostic
- I&D
- antibiotic if immunostatus concerns or secondary cellulitis only

A
- cleanse skin and prep area with betadine
- apply sterile drapes
- anesthetize with local anesthetic
- use #11 blade to open sufficiently to drain either linear or cruciate (cross) incision
- use hemostats to break up debris and pus
- obtain culture
- irrigate
- pack with iodoform or plain

A
No, goal is to avoid infection so must consider pros and cons and can consider leaving certain metal or glass objects, have to be cautious for development of foreign body reaction (granuloma, abscess) later in life as pushed out to skin
